Jess started out as an apprentice to Edwina Ibbotsen, learning all the traditional techniques of millinery from one of the ‘masters of millinery’. She went on to develop her style and grow creatively when studying at Kensington and Chelsea college, finishing in 1999 when she started her own couture millinery business from her atelier in Notting hill. Since then Jess has worked with dress designers Lindka Cierach and Ulrich Engler to create beautiful one off pieces for weddings, the races and other special occasions.

Collaborations with avant garde designers, such as Damaris, Mimi Holiday and the renowned florist Ercole Moroni, have inspired Jess to use to new techniques and materials. In 2009 Jess worked with Ercole to make a collection of hats using wood, perspex and fibre optics for the Investec Derby festival.
